Chapter 11

Scottie and Miss Sally,
they quickly roared away.
The chrome pipes beat the air like drums--
the drums in a parade.
The winds blew hard against his face
and he showed his brightest grin
while up above, there in the air,
Merlin closed on in.

They rode for miles ‘cross hill and dell
on to a mountain high,
and there they rode up to the top
to a castle in the sky.
In the garden there grew lollipops,
in the trees grew jelly beans,
and a house built of white chocolate bricks
with marshmallow in the seams.

Sally parked the motorcycle in the driveway in front of the chocolate house and walked towards the door. “Wow,” Scottie said, “is this really where you live?” Before Sally could answer, Merlin made one of his usual perfect landings in the mint covered yard that surrounded the white chocolate castle.

“Quack!”

“It sure is,” Sally replied.

“Wow,” Scottie said, “I never seen a candy house before.”

“Quack?” Merlin asked, wondering if Sally ever ate any of her house.

“Oh no,” Sally laughed, “the house might fall down. Besides, there’s more candy here then I could ever eat without trying to eat my house.”

“It sure is big,” Scottie said, “is it a castle?”

“I guess you could call it a castle,” Sally said. “Would you like to come inside? Scottie started walking towards the door but before he managed to get inside they heard a strange noise, ‘plop, plop, plop, plop,’ coming up the driveway. “What’s that noise?” Sally asked. “I’ve never heard it before.”

As Merlin and Scottie knew what the noise was, they simply looked at each other astonished they were hearing it. The noise got closer, ‘plop, plop, plop, plop,’ and finally at the same time they both shouted, “Quack!”

“The hopping box!”

“You mean it followed you here?” Sally asked.

“I guess so,” Scottie answered as the hopping box hopped up the driveway, ‘plop, plop, plop, plop,’ finally coming into view just before it took a flying leap landing softly on Scottie’s shoulder.

“That’s amazing,” Sally exclaimed. “I guess it really likes you.”

“Quack,” Merlin agreed.
